Linkedin - A Great Web Marketing Potential
LinkedIn was the first social networking site that I joined. The unique concept of professional networking was something that attracted me towards this powerful site.Facebook and Twitter followed after that but I still feel LinkedIn is a great platform for any type of networking. The prime target area for LinkedIn is professional bonding. It provides a great stage where you could establish relationships without really knowing people.I mean you could do that on Facebook or Twitter as well but there is a downside to it.In Facebook your privacy could be hacked by someone you really don’t know.
The advantages of LinkedIn can be multi-fold.If you are a job seeker then you can market your skills and get relevant job opportunities. If you are looking out for people of specific skills then you could get them quite quickly by searching through LinkedIn profiles.Businesses can prosper if they market themselves well.Obviously like any other social media site you would need to create your contacts. But the genuineness of contacts is almost guaranteed.I have observed that since LinkedIn is not regarded as an extremely private networking site, people are most willing to accept your invitations. The same people are likely to decline your invitations on Facebook.
LinkedIn has evolved a lot in the past few years and today you can share your posts and even like comments in order to create some authority around your posts.Since this is primarily driven by businesses you can find a lot of partners and prospects.LinkedIn also has an Ad campaign to propagate your brand over the Web.This might work well if you want to be listed in the top of the job listings of LinkedIn or even to sell your products to a specific set of audience.
The only problem I feel is that LinkedIn is still under-rated by many because of lack of features available on other sites.Probably the User interface is also something that needs a makeover to entice different types of audience.Although in the recent times they have introduced a lot of features for instance Likes and provides you the newsfeeds of people in your list, it looks to me more of a follower than a leader as it has picked up some sellable features from sites like Facebook.
LinkedIn has a great potential in Web marketing and probably some of it still needs to be explored.
